It has been a very busy start to our new year! We hope that your 2016 has been off to a great start. Here is this month's look at our local markets:

Denton County Median Sale Price:

January 2016- $232,125

December 2015- $248,500

January 2015- $216,440

Down 6.58% from last month; Up 7.24% YOY

Collin County Median Sale Price:

January 2016- $251,000

December 2015- $268,953

January 2015- $239,000

Down 6.52% from last month; Up 5.02% YOY

Cooke County Median Sale Price:

January 2016- $131,870

December 2015- $208,000

January 2015- $91,728

Down 36.6% from last month; Up 43.76% YOY

Grayson County Median Sale Price:

January 2016- $125,000

December 2015- $130,000

January 2015- $112,000

Down 3.85% from last month; Up 11.61% YOY

In all four markets the median sale price was down from December, but all are still up year over year. Cooke and Grayson Counties have less volume thus the statistical data fluctuates more. January was a rocky month for the stock markets and oil prices have continued to be low. We will continue to watch the markets to see how they will be impacted.

How is Oil Impacting the Housing Market in Texas?

Many in our area and certainly throughout the state of Texas are feeling the impact of oil prices. As much as we love paying less at the pump, we do not love the job losses that occur when prices get too low. It has a ripple effect on our economy.
